AVEL's BEST OF THE BEST

AVEL contains links to only quality websites. We handpick them so that you can save time searching. That said, sometimes we find sites that deserve a special mention. This month we focus some of the conferences coming up in the Australasian region in 2002.

Pacific 2002 International Maritime Conference

Pacific 2002 International Maritime Conference will be held in January 2002 at the Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Darling Harbour. The conference is organised by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects, the Institution of Engineers Australia, and the Institute of Marine Engineers. The theme of this conference is ‘Maritime technology for the 21st century’.

Asian Aerospace 2002

The Asian Aerospace 2002 exhibition will be held in Singapore from the 26th of February to the 3rd of March 2002. The exhibition will include manufacturers displays, static aircraft displays and flying displays.

The Fourth International Conference on Distributed Communities on the Web

Distributed communities are self-configuring networks of mobile and fixed people, devices and applications. They facilitate not just mobility of content to members, but also mobility of context. The DCW conference series brings together researchers interested in the future development of electronic communities. The DCW 2002 conference will be hosted by the School of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of New South Wales, in Sydney, Australia, 3-5 April 2002.

World Engineering Congress 2002 - Malaysia

The World Engineering Congress 2002 (WEC2002) will be held in Kuching, Malaysia from the 22nd to the 25th of July, 2002. The theme of the congress is ‘Engineering Innovation and Sustainability: Global Challenges and Issues’. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion on appropriate and innovative technology for development, in particular for the developing countries.

The 6th Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems

The Sixth Pacific Asia Conference on Information Systems (PACIS-2002) will be held at Meiji University, Tokyo, Japan, 2-4 September , 2002. Observing the recent rapid development and deployment of information technology and applications to business and communities, the theme of PACIS 2002 - "The Next e-What? for Business and Communities", is to explore the next technologies, theories, and practices.

SciTech NEWSLETTER
The latest edition of the SciTech newsletter (produced by United States-based
National Science Foundation) is now available from the AVEL website.
